    Angel Williams (Angelina Love) Interview

NOTE: This interview was done well before she signed with TNA Wrestling

How did you get into professional wrestling?

I began watching wrestling around the age of seven. I watched it kind of sporadically, because I was young and could never remember the time or what channel it was on! But if I was lucky enough to pass by it, I’d watch it for sure. I stopped watching for a few years…I don’t know why. But when I was thirteen, I was really bored one Saturday afternoon so I went flipping through the TV guide. I saw that a repeat of WWF Action Zone was on, so I was like “Oh man, I have to watch this!” As soon as I turned it on, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. They announced that RAW would be on Monday night, so I watched that too. I instantly fell in love with wrestling…and my favorite wrestler of all time: Shawn Michaels. I was hooked. Everything for me was wrestling, wrestling, wrestling. Then, two years ago when I was eighteen, I was really itching to get into the business. I was in one of the chat rooms on WWF.com. I was talking to a guy who did ring announcing for some indy feds in the States. I asked him if he knew of any promotions that were in Ontario. He told me he would find out, and about a week later I got an email from him with five different promotions, websites, phone numbers, etc. So I went to the websites right away, and came across the Hardcore Wrestling Federation. I contacted the promoter, Mark Anderson, and told him who I was and that I wanted to be a manager for whomever he wanted to put me with. We talked for about a month or so and then he invited me to do some shows for them. On my first show I was put in the corner of Dangerboy Derek Wylde, and as soon as I got in the ring, I knew that this what I wanted to base my life around. The rest of it, as they say, is history!

What wrestling promotions have you worked for?

I currently work for Border City Wrestling (BCW), Fighting Spirit Pro Wrestling (FSPW), Twin Towers Wrestling Federation (TTWF), Maximum Pro Wrestling (MXPW), Michigan Championship Wrestling (MCW), NWA Great Lakes and All Star Pro Wrestling (ASPW). Other organizations I have worked for in the past include: Hardcore Wrestling Federation (HWF), Impact Wrestling Federation (IWF), Powerslam Wrestling Extreme (PWE), Canadian Independent Wrestling Association (CIWA) and Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling (XICW)

Who have you managed so far?

When I first started in the business, I managed “Dangerboy” Derek Wylde, after that I managed a tag team called the Texas Hell-Razors, there has also been “Showtime” Eric Young, Chris Sabin, Gutter, Scott D’Amore, Larry Destiny, Simon Diamond, El Tornado and “Completely” Cody Steele.

Which do you like better being a face or a heel?

I enjoy both. I really liked being a heel when I managed the Texas Hell-Razors, but now my character for every promotion I work for, except for 1, I am baby face and I get over well with it and I have a lot of fun.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself in the WWE. I’ll work as hard as i can to attain that goal, its been a dream of mine since i was a young girl, and i know i will make it.

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment so far?

My greatest accomplishment so far is moving from valet to wrestler. I would always do a move here and take a move there when i valeted all the time, but now that im getting more into matches and everything, its such a step up and its still a lot of fun. A great accomplishment for me came in less then a half of a year in the business when I won the IWF Manager of the Year for 2000.

What wrestler have you not yet managed that you would like to manage in the future?

Um, oh lets see, if I was in WWE, I would love to be with Edge, or Hurricane Helms or Shannon Moore, those guys are all some of my favourites. If i was asked this question about 5 years ago I would have said Shawn Michaels cause he’s my favourite lol.

Who do you feel is the greatest wrestler of all time?

Bar none, my favourite of all time, Shawn Michaels.

What is the best thing about being in professional wrestling?

It is SO much fun, I love it so much, I always have the time of my life at shows. It’s such a rush to go out infront of the crowds and perform, and hear crowd reaction. Crowd reaction is the greatest. One of the best things too, is that I’m close with all of the guys, we’re all like family, and I have so much respect for them and they respect me too. We all joke around and laugh and have a good time and that is always the best.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about getting into professional wrestling?

My advice would be to make sure you are truly serious about it. The ring is not soft like a bed, and a lot of it hurts. If you think you can take it, find a good school, get properly trained, study tapes and pay your dues. If you dont think you can handle it, then dont step inside the ropes cause it’s a whole other world in there.

Who has been your greatest influence?

I had 2 big influences when I was growing up, and that was Shawn Michaels and Miss Elizabeth. Shawn Michaels is what made me want to get into the business, and Miss Elizabeth was so cute and classy, she definitely was the perfect woman in wrestling at the time.

What is your favorite wrestling move?

I really like Christian’s “Unprettier”, there’s a whole bunch of other smaller ones i like too, like submission holds and such.

What do you do to relax?

I go to the gym about 5 times a week, working out is a great stress buster for me, and i always feel so rejuvenated after a good work out. I also like to hang out with my friends and of course, watch wrestling 😉

Who is your favorite band of all time?

OOOOOOOO thats too hard for me to answer, cause i have a lot of favourite bands, not necessarily one of all time. My favourite bands right now are Korn, Incubus, Default, P.O.D., Puddle of Mudd, Linkin Park and Hoobastank.

Wrestling Rumors and News would like to thank Angel Williams for taking the time to do the interview and we wish her the very best!!! The above picture is used with the permission of Angel Williams.
