  • Mick Foley Looks Back At Edge’s Amazing WWE Career

Posted on April 15th, 2011 admin 55 comments

Mick Foley wrote a very lengthy and very good blog remembering Edge’s career and the type of impact Edge made on the wrestling business.  The following is an excerpt from Foley’s blog:

“I had no doubt at the time, 2006, that Edge was the number one wrestler in the business. I think one could put up an argument that he was the number one wrestler for a period of time during any one of a number of years. His matches with the top WWE stars of his era – The Undertaker, Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, John Cena, etc. etc. – are the stuff of legend. If there is any weakness to an argument for Edge, it is that he did amazing matches with such regularity that I’m not sure fans could completely appreciate just how amazing they were. Following my Mania match with Edge, I spent a LONG time in bed, caught a late flight, and made it home just in time to see Edge on Raw, stealing the show again – less than 24 hours after stealing the biggest show of the year.

I don’t know if there will ever be a consensus on who the best wrestler or worker of that era (call it 2003-2011, starting and ending with the neck injury) is or was. I once said I could make a good argument for Shawn Michaels – and I can. I think I could make a pretty good argument for Kurt Angle. Based on big money matches, some might say Triple H. For pure wrestling, maybe AJ Styles or Samoa Joe, or any number of Japanese stars who have flown beneath the mainstream radar.

But look at the other attributes that Edge brought to the table. A willingness to fully immerse himself in every storyline – to make people believe, or at least to believe that he believed. He embraced the ridiculous. He loved the emotional. He thrived under pressure. He stood up for what he thought was best for his characters, his matches, his opponents, and the shows. As viewers, we knew that every segment he appeared in was going to be good. But more importantly, we knew that any segment with Edge had the potential be great.”

  • Eric Bischoff Says He’s “Still Angry at Jeff Hardy,” More

What Jeff Hardy could effectively give back to TNA if a return to the company facilitates itself & his reaction to the closing moments of the Victory Road Pay-Per-View: “I’m the wrong person to ask that question of, and I shouldn’t be. I can’t understand why I feel the way I feel, therefore I certainly can’t explain it. I’m still angry at Jeff Hardy, so it’s hard for me to discuss what I think he could do or should do, because until I quit being angry at him and about the situation, whatever would come out of my mouth would probably be counterproductive.”

How the TNA return of “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels came to fruition & why he was “very happy when he came back”: “I don’t really want to go into the behind the scenes of it. I was impressed with Chris when I first came to TNA. I was surprised when he left the company, but I understand it was business. There were changes, and decisions, and moves that had to be made, but I also knew that everyone in TNA fully expected to have Chris back at some point. I was very happy when he came back. He’s a good athlete, he’s a good character, and I’m interested to see how that character evolves as the weeks & months go by.”

  • Matt Hardy Comments On Edge’s Retirement, Their Past, More

Posted on April 13th, 2011 admin 3 comments

Matt Hardy, who has had a long and controversial history with Edge, commented on Edge’s retirement via Twitter:

“Heard Adam is retiring because of physical issues that won’t allow him to safely continue wrestling. He’ll be missed, we’ve certainly had our fair share of issues.. Both good and bad. But I tip my hat to Edge who is one of the greatest I’ve ever been in the ring with. Adam resides in NC now-sure I’ll run into him down the road. Glad that him & I are in a good place. We came in as friends, & went out that way.”

  • Scott Hall Makes First Comments Since Being Hospitalized

Scott Hall has posted the following on Twitter, which is his first comment since Hall’s incident at the Top Rope Promotions event this past Friday that resulted in him being hospitalized: “At the hospital in New England! Doing good. Thanx for all your well wishes & support! The Bad Guy!”

We wish him a speedy recovery and the very best!

  • Hulk Hogan Backtracks On His Recent Edge Comments

Posted on April 12th, 2011 admin 6 comments

Hogan is now backtracking on his most recent negative comments about Edges retirement, here is what he had to say:

Hulk Hogan posted the following comments on his official Twitter page: “I’m not saying anything bad about Edge, but he’s a real wrestler. Stone Cold and Cena had neck surgery and u couldn’t stop em, or Edge.  It’s in Edges blood,he lives for this business.  He’s a real wrestler, he’s a lifer, he’s one of the real boys, he’s hard to hold down, that’s all. HH”

It’s interesting to note that Hogan’s mention of Steve Austin’s neck surgery (the same surgery that Edge had) seemed to indicate that Austin worked after the surgery and Edge has not.  Both men worked for a while after their surgeries, but Austin stopped wrestling for the exact same reason Edge has been forced to retire: they risk very serious, permanent damage to their bodies if they continue.

  • Hogan Makes Tasteless Comments About Edge’s Retirement

Posted on April 12th, 2011 admin No comments

The following are some new tweets from the official Twitter page of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan:

@jays712 if any of the guys like me,Flair,Hardy,Andre,AA,Blanchard, orndoff,Henning would have listened to doctors we would have quit15yrsago

@jays712 but I don’t know Edges working environment because they are a media company not a wrestling company. HH wrestlers work hurt!

We here at Wrestling Rumors and News encourage Hulk Hogan to consider retiring because he is a has been who now wrestles for a second rate promotion that has ZERO chance of ever competing with the WWE as long as he and Bischoff have any pull within the company!

  • Big Update To Scott Hall Incident; Promoter Issues Statement

Posted on April 11th, 2011 admin 5 comments

Just days after the independent show where Scott Hall attempted to wrestle when he was in no condition to do so, the promoter of the event has issued an official statement.  Top Rope Promotions promoter, Steve Ricard put the following on their official website:

Top Rope Promotions has been holding family oriented wrestling shows for 30 years now, and on our 30th Anniversary event, we brought in one of the biggest names in pro wrestling, Scott Hall (aka Razor Ramon).

We drew a packed house and a good majority of them were there to see Hall. Hall and his people down in FL had all claimed he was clean and good to go. His flight and hotel were pre paid, and his appearance fee was demanded upon arrival at the airport (which he asked for within 3 min of being picked up).

Hall had arrived in a wheel chair with 3 bottles of prescription pills in his posession. Hall had performed an interview with our local newspaper The Herald News around 6 PM on Thursday night, saying how much he was looking forward to coming to the show, and how he was clean. Less then 24 hrs later, he showed up in the state he was in, demanding his appearance fee. Right off the bat, we were in a bad situation.

Having Hall at the building, already pre paid with his appearance fee, hotel, flight, etc. He even harassed my driver in the process. Hall was persistent to appear on the show. His heart was in the right place, unfortunately I can’t say the same about his mind or his body.

Throughout the night he made threats to numerous members of my staff, as well as myself demanding more money, demanding to go to the ring when he wanted to etc. He was also threatening to kill me if I “screwed” him over. I’m 31 years old and I should be in no circumstances, babysitting someone in there 50’s.

Hall made at best, an embarrassing performance in the ring and for the fans who came to see him, trashing matches that were on the show before him and addressing the crowd as if we were in England.

Neither Hall, nor anyone who helped line up the date, or any of his close friends or agents have called to apologize or offer a refund for his “less then stellar” appearance. He showed his true colors and who he was this past Friday night. If he’s upset that we’re airing a stream of this atrocious appearance, maybe he should issue an apology to the fans, the promotion, and the workers of the company. One would only assume that no one that night got what they paid for, myself included.

Awww SNAP, we here at Wrestling Rumors and News couldn’t agree more!  However, we also realize that Scott Hall is deep down a good guy who has some issues most likely with both drugs and alcohol and we hope that he takes advantage of the WWE’s offer to pay for rehab once again.
